The Heart Transplant Unit at the Cardiovascular Hospital successfully completed the examination processes that started 2 years ago in order to become an International Training Center.
The unit received the authorization of the International Training Center on heart failure about 1 month ago.
In this context, physicians from the Russian Federation attended practical and theoretical trainings last week. In the final stage of the training, the experts inserted an artificial heart device into the calf's heart.
The coordinator of the Heart Transplantation Center in Ankara City Hospital Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that there is no example of the Heart Failure Clinic in Europe, where 30 doctors work within the unit. Stating that the clinic only serves heart failure patients, Kervan emphasized that they are striving to carry the flag they received from Op. Dr. Kemal Bayazıt (89), who performed the first heart transplant in Turkey at the Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital.
