WE CONTINUED TO PERFORM ORGAN TRANSPLANTATIONS DURING THE PANDEMIC PROCESS
As Ankara City Hospital Organ Transplantation Center, we organized a small event to draw attention to the importance of organ transplantation that our Head of Organ Transplant and Dialysis Services Dr. Fatih Kacıroğlu, our hospital's Coordinator Chief Physician Op. Dr. Aziz Ahmet Surel and our responsible organ transplant managers attended. Speaking at our event, Ministry of Health Tissue, Organ Transplantation and Dialysis Services Department Head Dr. Fatih Kacıroğlu said, “Although there are different practices in different countries of the world, we continued to perform organ transplantations during the pandemic process. We have not stopped it in any way,".

Stating that organ donation is the only way for some patients to hold on to life, and therefore, transplants continue during the Covid-19 process, Dr. Fatih Kacıroğlu said, “Although there are different practices in different countries of the world, we continued to perform organ transplantations during the pandemic process. We have not stopped it in any way. But of course, with precautions ... We continued organ transplant surgeries by taking various precautions in order to protect the health of both donors and recipients, as well as the recipients during transplantation from cadaver to donor, and to prevent the negative effects of the pandemic process. It was not interrupted in any way. It is extremely pleasing for our country. Fortunately, we did not encounter any problems. ”

Stating that organ donation is very important and the only way out of some diseases is organ transplantation, Ankara City Hospital Coordinator Chief Physician Op. Dr. St. Surel said, "We are the only public hospital that can do heart, lung, liver, kidney and cornea transplants under one roof in Turkey. At this point, 6 distinguished hospitals of our country have united in our campus and the teams within these hospitals that carry out the transportation processes at the highest level came together with us in this hospital. Our main goal in this center is; to manage the transplant processes from a single source and to provide support services and raise awareness to transplant patients, donor candidates and their relatives as much as we can. We built such a center for this. It is located in one of the main entrances of our hospital. Both our donor candidates and our transplant patients will be able to benefit from this center if they want to get help in any matter."
