Pediatric Allergy and Immunology

We provide contemporary and evidence-based service for diagnosis and treatment of allergy and immunology diseases in childhood as a strong team with 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 pediatric allergy-immunology specialists, 6 pediatric allergy-immunology fellows (residency) and 5 nurses.

In our clinic, there are 8 polyclinics, 2 respiratory function test rooms, 1 bronchial provocation test room and 1 allergy test room where allergy skin tests and drug/food provocations are performed.

In our clinic, diagnosis, monitorization and treatment of underage groups (between 0-18 years) suffering from asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, urticeria-angioedema, bee allergy, food allergy, drug allergy and immune deficiency are carried out.

Our patients who are suspected of asthma are evaluated by examination, respiratory function tests and bronchial provocation tests if necessary. Our diagnosed patients are regularly monitored and they are evaluated by performing pulmonary function tests during their treatment. Skin tests are applied to determine the allergic sensitization of our patients.

Our patients who are suspected of food allergy are evaluated based on patient history, physic
al examination, skin tests including specific IgE values in the blood, and if necessary, food provocation tests are performed. Our diagnosed patients are monitored at regular intervals with the help of skin tests, specific IgE measurements and food provocations are repeated for evaluation of the development of food allergies when necessary.

Our patients who are suspected of drug allergy are evaluated based on patient history, physical examination, skin test and specific IgE values in the blood and drug provocation tests are performed if necessary. Provocation tests are performed with alternative drugs. In spite of drug allergy, if a patient has to use a drug which triggers allergy, the desensitization protocol is carried out for that patient with that culprit drug.

Immunotherapy is performed to our patients who are sensitized and diagnosed with allergic rhinitis with the allergens such as pollens, house dust mites. Also immunotherapy is performed to patients diagnosed with bee allergy when necessary.

Immunodeficiency diagnosis and follow-up are performed in our department. Bone marrow transplantation is performed in cooperation with the pediatric hematology-oncology department
