Pediatric Pulmonology
In the Pediatric Pulmonology Department, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric pulmonary diseases such as congenital lung diseases, chronic lung diseases of prematurity, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, interstitial lung diseases, lung involvement of systemic diseases, pulmonary complications after bone marrow transplantation, respiratory complications in neuromuscular diseases, infectious diseases such as bronchiolitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, hydatid cyst are carried out by academic members, two pediatric pulmonology specialists and three pediatric pulmonology fellows.
There are three outpatient polyclinic rooms in the department and we provide service for minimum 60 patients per day. We have an infancy inpatient service having the capacity of 21 beds and also our Pediatric Pulmonology Team arrange daily visits for all patients hospitalized based on their age groups and based on other rare diseases in the hospital campus. Our department has also a respiratory function test laboratory, where spirometry, plethysmography, DLCO, LCI measurements are performed. Our unit is one of the few centers to perform flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of children. This procedure is performed in the operating theater, accompanied by anesthesiologists, and minimum 100 bronchoscopy procedures are performed annually in our department.
