Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine
Two medical specialists who have knowledge and experience in adolescence health and already completed their doctorate in the related field provide service in Adolescence (Pubescent Health) Unit. Physical, sexual and psychosocial developments of the youth between 10 to 18 year old are evaluated in the unit.
Eating disorder (Anorexia, Bulimia, Nervosa etc.) in adolescents, exogenous obesity and thinness are investigated and treated. Advices are given considering sports health and bone health in adolescents and protection against osteoporosis. In addition, fatigue, sleeping disorders are evaluated and monitorized. Menstrual disorders of girls in adolescence period (heavy or light in amount and prolonged or infrequent ), ovarian cysts, painful period, anxiety before period and vaginal discharges are treated and followed. Sexual hygiene and breast problems in both sexes, testicle problems in males, excessive hair growth in girls independent from endocrine disorders, physical, sexual and psychosocial abuse and neglect issues are evaluated, followed and psychosocial risk factors are determined.
Chronic patients in adolescence period are followed for their lack of adaptation to their chronic diseases and drug utilization due to pubescence. Substance abuse risk during every adolescent's psychosocial evaluation, social media / internet addiction or smoking (hookah, tobacco etc.) are investigated while risky adolescents are closely monitorized as the individuals with substance abuse are interviewed to stop it in Adolescence Health Polyclinic.
