Our Coordinator Chief Physician Dr. Aziz Ahmet Surel made statements about the services offered in our Bilkent City Hospital in 2022 and the new studies planned to be implemented this year. Reminding that our hospital started operating on February 6, 2019, Surel emphasized that the years 2020-2021 were quite heavy due to the Covid-19 epidemic, but 2022 was a much brighter and better year for healthcare professionals. Underlining that the organ transplantation processes were not interrupted at the hospital despite the Covid-19 epidemic period, Surel said, "We are the only public hospital that performs 4 solid organ transplants. In organ transplantation, we exceeded the previous figures in 2022, despite the pandemic. Last year, we performed nearly four hundred organ transplants. Nearly half of them are corneal transplants and the rest are solid organ transplants. We have performed around 40 kidney and 20 liver transplants."
Examination service was provided to 30 thousand people a day.
Noting that our hospital served thousands of people last year with its qualified health personnel and employees, Surel continued his words as follows:
“As of 2022, our hospital provided examination services to 30 thousand people a day, 750-800 people were hospitalized daily, and as many of our patients were discharged. Numune Hospital was the largest of our hospitals moved when we were founded. Currently, we are hospitalizing as many patients as all the beds of Numune Hospital and we are discharging as many patients every day.
Although the first periods of 2022 were under the heavy influence of the pandemic, approximately 6 million examinations were performed in our hospital. Around 600-700 operations, around 300 endoscopy, around 80 angiography, 1500 ultrasonography, 1500 tomography, 750-800 MRI were performed daily.
Surel underlined that they offer all these services not only to Turkish citizens but also to people who come from abroad for health services.
“Our Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is about to receive its international accreditation certificate.”
Stating that they are working towards obtaining international quality accreditations in health and establishing world-renowned centers of excellence, Surel pointed out that the accreditation certificates are given by the Turkish Health Services Quality and Accreditation Institute within the body of TUSEB, within the framework of the legislation determined by the Ministry of Health.
Reminding that our Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Hospital received the international accreditation certificate in 2022 for the first time in this context, Surel also gave the following information:
"Starting from our Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital, we are working on obtaining the title of 'center of excellence' where the best national and international healthcare services are provided. In this context, our Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital is about to receive the international accreditation document. After that, the accreditation process of our General Hospital and Cardiovascular Hospital will begin. Our Oncology and Children's Hospital will follow, and all of our 7 hospitals on campus will be accredited. Thus, each of them will be authorized to open a 'center of excellence' in their field of duty."
“We also started digital hospital processes”
Noting that our Bilkent City Hospital is a family of 17 thousand people, of which 12 thousand are public and 5 thousand company personnel, Surel stated that new studies on the "digital hospital" are also ongoing.
"We have also started the processes related to obtaining the digital hospital certification. We want to obtain the digital hospital certification in our entire campus as soon as possible." Surel said that this is a globally accepted accreditation and standard model called "HIMSS", which is maintained under the leadership of the Ministry of Health.
Surel stated that the system means safer conditions for both patients and employees in terms of information technologies.
“The rate of not coming to an appointment, which was 35 percent, decreased to 10 percent.”
Surel stated that the new practices in the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) that people who make an appointment and do not go to that appointment and do not cancel it will not be able to get an appointment from the same branch again for 15 days, which has a positive effect on hospital appointments.
Reminding that our Minister of Health, Mr. Fahrettin Koca, frequently calls for appointment precision, Surel also noted the following:
"There was a 30-35 percent rate of not showing up for an appointment in our hospital. Recently, this rate has dropped to 10 percent. Of course, 10 percent is a very serious number when we consider the whole of Turkey. When we consider our hospital, the rate of 10 percent in 30 thousand appointments per day means 3 thousand people are not coming to their appointment.
Of course, there will be those who will not be able to come to their appointment in unexpected situations, but we say to everyone that "cancel the appointment in advance, call and let another person benefit from that appointment". Our citizens responded very positively to the suggestions made by our Minister. We see that the appointment cancellation rates in the field have increased and thus the appointment system is used more effectively."
Surel underlined that they will work to provide the highest level of health services at world standards to people both in Turkey and in different countries.
