Pediatric Oncology & Hematology
Ankara City Hospital, Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Department and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit provide patient-oriented and family-oriented care services for children struggling with blood diseases and cancer with the help of the latest developments and with the experienced doctors, nurses, child development specialists and psychologists. The Department of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology works closely with other pediatric branches such as pediatric intensive care unit, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, nephrology, gastroenterology and pediatric surgery to provide the highest level of multidisciplinary care. We also provide consultation to outpaients and inpatient service wards. In our bone marrow transplantation unit, we perform hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from suitable donors to children under the age of 18 who have malignancies or immune deficiency disorders and benign hematologic diseases.
Cancers frequently seen in childhood such as leukemia, lymphoma, central nervous system tumors, rhabdomyosarcoma and non-rhabdomyosarcoma, soft tissue tumors, ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma etc. anemias, inherited blood disorders, bone marrow failures, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, thalassemias, neutropenias, thrombosis and coagulation disorders, lymphadenopathies, hemangiomas and all kinds of benign tumors are our main working areas. In our hospital, 87 beds are reserved for Pediatric Hematology & Oncology patients. There is also a transplant unit with 16-bed capacity. Our day-care unit has 32 beds for patients who need transfusion or who receive cancer treatment as outpatients.
