Otorhinolaryngology (Ear Nose & Throat Department)

Our clinic is comprised of 9 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 1 Academic Physician, 2 Chief Interns, 11 Specialist Physicians, 17 Residency Training Students on duty. Our clinic inpatient service consists of 66 beds including single and double rooms in total located on the 7th floor divided into 3 service sections in MH1 General Hospital.


Otorhinolaryngology Polyclinic is located on the B2 floor in General Hospital. Examinations of patients having appointments via MHRS (Centralized Hospital Appointment System) in MHRS Polyclinics, examinations of patients applying to the polyclinic secretaries and taking queue number on the Polyclinic floor, examinations of adult Health Committee patients in The Health Committee Polyclinic, examinations of patients being referred from other departments for consultation in The Consultation Polyclinic. Our polyclinic rooms has the infrastructure to perform endoscopic and microscopic examination.

Examinations of patients being examined in Children's Hospital Polyclinics and referred to MH4 Children's Hospital Ear Nose Throat Polyclinic for consultation room and ÇÖZGER (Health Committee For Children) examinations are performed.

Our Audiology Unit is located on the B2 floor in MH1 General Hospital. 12 audiology technicians, 5 hearing aid specialists work in our Audiology Unit. Hearing evaluation of adults and children, tympanometry, voice analysis, assessment of spoken language, speech therapies, balance tests are performed in our Unit. Furthermore, follow-up procedures of cochlear implant patients are carried out.

Our Sleep Unit is located on the 7th floor A Section in MH1 General Hospital. Two beds of ENT Service are reserved for sleep tests. Polysomnography test is performed on the patients if required after the assessment in ENT Polyclinic.

4 operating theaters are available for use by our clinic in the hospital. Robotic surgeries are performed in a separate operating theater once a week. Additionally, our clinic team provides service for patients who apply to Emergency Service and need Ear Nose Throat examination and intervention 7/24.

Diagnosis and Treatment

The group of the diseases diagnosed and treated in our department are listed below;

Ear Diseases:

Otitis media, otitis externa, otosclerosis, sudden hearing loss, inner ear disorders causing dizziness, congenital hearing loss, cholesteatoma, benign and malignant tumors of ear, prominent ear deformities.

Nose and paranasal sinus diseases:

Nasal bone fractures, acute and chronic sinus infections, deviated septum, nasal polip, turbinate hypertrophy, benign and malignant nose and paranasal sinus tumors.

Mouth and Throat Diseases:

Tonsil diseases, enlarged adenoids, nasopharynx cancers, benign and malignant tumors of the lip, benign and malignant tumors of the tongue, benign and malignant tumors of the jaw, speech disorders, peripheral facial paralysis.

Neck Disorders:

Branchial cleft cyst, thyroglossal cyst, lymphangioma of the neck, hemangiom, vocal cord nodules and polips, laryngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancers, thyroid cancer, lymphoma causing neck swelling, unilateral or bilateral vocal fold paralysis, blunt and penetrant traumas of the neck.
